What New DC Movies and TV Shows to Release in 2023?

There’s no easy way of saying this, but 2022 was a rough year for DC Comics fans.

What should have been a time of excitement and celebration for the wide variety of movies and television shows the comic book juggernaut had spawned turned into a time of heartache, as a cancellation after cancellation made it hard to be a DC fan.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s new direction meant that the HBO Max movie Batgirl would be canceled, but that only set the stage for what would come as the DCEU as we knew it was ripped down and new Co-Chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios James Gunn and Peter Safran sought to build a new one. Even the safe bet DC shows on The CW saw cancellations when that network was sold to new owners Nexstar.

Here’s hoping that 2023 is a significantly brighter year for DC with an abundance of content coming out. Among that content, we have four theatrical movies, the final season of The Flash, and perhaps the last ever CW DC TV show.

2023 will kick off for DC programming with The Flash season 9 before the last remaining superhero shows on The CW join it. On the TV end of things, we can also expect the second installments of the fourth seasons of both Titans and Doom Patrol.

HBO Max series Peacemaker has been renewed for a second season, and there is a chance that it could return this year, but 2024 is a more likely option. The same could probably be said for HBO Max’s Harley Quinn series too.
